I gave atmosphere 5 stars because that’s just the way it is. This is absolutely the smallest restaurant I’ve ever seen. There was about 7-8 benches to sit and a shelf along the window if you want to stand and eat.
They got a few call in orders while we were there, but service was top notch.
The food was excellent. I got a bowl of Chili and a Cheeseburger. Both of them I could easily put in my top 5 of all time. The chili was really great Hot Dog chili which they serve as well along with a full breakfast menu. It was thick and slightly sweet with a few beans and loaded with meat.
The Cheeseburger was awesome. The patty was smashed and cooked on a grill with Tomato, Pickle, and Onion.
Both the Chili and Cheeseburger I could put in my top 5 of all time.
Get the cheeseburger. Get the chili. Unbelievable. Two people can eat for $20. Fantastic service and love the low key atmosphere. Cool to see the flat top from your seat. Won’t look like much from the outside but you won’t be disappointed.
Location: 4/5: Busy area, some traffic, especially in the afternoon.
Ambiance: 3/5: The place is small... 5 or 6 countertop seats only. Tiny area for dine-in. Tiny area for staff to cook and serve.
Value for $$: 4/5: A double cheese burger and a triple cheese burger, two drinks, and a bag of chips for less than (plus tip) $20. Not too shabby.
Service: 5/5: Awesome! We grabbed dinner burgers...though the staff were tired, they were friendly, helpful, responsive, and joked with all the customers who came in the diner. Well done!
Hygiene: 2/5: The tables, chairs, and floor were old and a little greasy. Fortunately, the plates, cups, and utensils were one use, so, all were very clean.
Cuisine: 5/5: Fountain drinks were...well, fountain drinks. Burgers were smash burger, minimal toppings, and were very tasty!
Recommend: 5/5: We have already been back, and we have already recommended Ferrell's to several friends.
Ferrells is one of those places that the moment you step in you know its going to be awesome food. Food gets a 5/5 without having to think about it. Every time we’re on a road trip we make sure to stop by ferrells, and there have been more than one occasion we or another family member brings back 20 at a time to share with everybody back home. Its just simply that good!!! Service gets 4/5 just because we happened to come at a time when it was busy and also there was only one person cooking, but i want to give it a 5 just because the cook is very sweet.
Armosphere is 5/5 for SURE! Like i said up top its simply a place touched by the burger gods. It is a little funky inside so maybe if you are a stickler for that just take that as a note but its not more gross than any other fast food restaurant! Plus i think it adds character to the place. Conclusion: Great burgers and fries, friendly atmosphere, and pretty good service. (I highly recommend a double cheeseburger with mustard, pickles, and onions, trust me we’d know) The price is also very good, to put into perspective a double quarter pounder costs ~$8 while a double cheese from here is a little under $5
The burgers were OK, they don't have fries. Prices were good. The ladies behind the counter were quite gruff. They were out of RC ( the only cola on the menu). Only 6 counter stools for dine in eating. Opened in 1923, doesn't appear to have ever been updated. Ok for take out. We won't be back.
If you are ever in Hopkinsville stop by this iconic restaurant for their amazing Ferrell's burger and breakfast! Ms. Marilyn will fix you right up! You can call in and pick up. They even use Door Dash!
Ferrell's is the best little burger shop in Hopkinsville! The staff is excellent and Rhonda cooks a mean Heart Attack! The menu is straight forward and you get an authentic cafe burger!
There are some seats, some standing counters but you can also call in and take it to-go! If you get a chance to stop by, I highly recommend it!
Seriously though, of you have a heart appetite get the Heart Attack! Grilled cheese bottom, sausage, double cheeseburger, pickles, onions, bacon and chili to top it off!
You'll need a knife and fork, but you'll be smiling the whole time!
Pictures shown are of the inside and the Heart Attack being constructed!
ENJOY!!!
Great breakfast , burgers are superb the Chilli is amazing & Marylin & Missy are the best 👌
